SPEED LIMIT AT CROWFIELD
Dear Mrs Cox SPEED LIMIT AT CROWFIELD

Thank you for your letter dated 22 September 2001 concerning the speed limit at Crowfield.

The signs that have been recently erected on the road to Crowfield near the junction with the B4525 are a legal requirement of the 40mph traffic regulation order imposed on the main road in conjunction with the safety camera. They are required to confirm the start and finish of the 40mph limit but have not changed the existing speed limit on the road to Crowfield in any way.

A national review of speed limits is in progress at the moment and it is hoped that legislation will be brought in that will enable the County Council to impose speed limits in villages without the need for costly traffic regulation orders or street lighting being present. ! will add Crowfield to the list of sites for future consideration, progress will however depend on funding being available and the outcome of the national review.

I note your request for a cycle path and will arrange for it to be given consideration as part of the B4525 Route Strategy Study that is due to be carried out next year.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me on the above telephone number.

Yours sincerely
