Messages Received 11th Feb 2001 Hello to all in Crowfield My name is Penny Mears and I live in Kettering, Northamptonshire E-Mail eb.wdkett@ntlworld.com It's a treat to see my home village on the web, It was my Eldest Brother Raymond Mears who lives in Northampton, who told me about the web site. It's his son, my nephew, Stuart Mears who is on the message board. So I just couldn't pass up the chance to say hello. I was born in 1953 and I grew up Crowfield,until 1965/6. First in the cottage that my Mother named "Karitza Cottage" my Dad, Harry Mears, who was then a Master Builder, created the cottage out of 2 cottages. then we moved into Number two the Bungalow, both of those Bungalow's were built by my Dad. I went to the Syresham Primary/junior school, I can remember Mr Beaumont taking me to that school in his milk van. At the age of 11, I then went to the Brackley Secondary Modern School. In 1966 my Mum, Dad and I left Crowfield as my Dad had brought a Hardware Shop in Kettering, Northamptonshire . I wonder if Robert and Mary wood remember me? I can remember running over the fields at the back of the houses with them. I have been back to visit Crowfield a few times since I passed my driving test in 1982, and I am always amazed at the changing look of the Village. My Dad's Building Firm was H.J.Mears & Son which my Brother Norman Mears is still running to this day although he now lives in Silverstone. My other Brother Debroy Mears, his wife Margaret and their two children Gary and Lucy lived at "Stonesthrow" (which Debroy built)are now living in America. Below are two pictures the one on the left is of my Mum, Ellen (nickname Nellie) Mears, my Dad Harry Mears and me Penny. this Picture was taken inside Karitza Cottage just by the front door about 1959/60 The picture on the right is me a few years ago in 1991.
